Now more comfortably associated with the globe’s biggest festivals, Dutch heavyweight Hardwell added another landmark to his belt with a debut Essential Mix for BBC Radio One last night. Off the back of an intense summer season which ended to the sound of further ascent of the DJ Mag Top 100 Awards poll, the Revealed ringleader brought his A-game to the airwaves for another career milestone.
In a whirlwind session of upfront crowd pleasers and exclusive picks from the cream of his imprint’s young roster, Hardwell’s fluid mixing style and knack for mash-ups saw his live energy translate seamlessly into his debut Essential Mix. With the addition of his new single ‘Apollo’ and forthcoming Laidback Luke collaboration ‘Dynamo’, this two-hour run was enough to illustrate that there is still plenty of excitement ahead of this European frontrunner.
